I started Insight whilst staying at a friend’s house. During the course of my stay our relationship broke down and I felt triggered. I left and continued to work on this drawing, which took three weeks to complete.
During that time I went through various strong emotions, as well as numbness, and gained insights into the drama of our relationship. The red and blue thing (neuron? flower?) was the first to be drawn and created my first rule: the outer colour must link to the inner colour of the next thing, so the blue and pink came next, followed by the pink and light blue, light blue and purple, purple and red, then red and green. I feel like the white/yellow light is the insight gained after processing. I hope viewers will feel like these are neurons sparking. Coloured pencils on paper were the materials.
