The Sun is the psychological empire of the Soul

An astrological art project…

I bought a book from a charity shop. It’s old and has a red hardback cover. On the spine is written, “The Way to Play”.

Inside, the title pages are green and I have dedicated them to the Sun. 

I painted two gold discs to represent two Suns, and as I painted the rays, I began to understand more about the psychological function of the Sun in astrology. More particularly, I could clearly see how two people’s Suns could affect one another, as their rays cross.

I paused, closed my eyes, and then wrote on the left page: 

The Sun is the psychological empire of the Soul, 

Marching forward into this lifetime’s passions, 

Purposeful and proud, 

Shining with all its might, 

All the time.

This, to me, represents how the Sun would be in us without any hindrance. But we do have hindrances, thankfully. Imagine shining ALL the time! When would we sleep?

How interesting it is that we each have our Sun, our vitality, that can light up when we focus on the things we love, and yet we may not be giving our attention to that. Instead we may be giving it away to what other people love, or to screens (doom scrolling?), or simply surviving.

Energy flows where thought goes. This little phrase is accurate, in my experience. We can build up our vitality little by little, until it has a magnificent shine every day. Magnificence is what we’re here for (according to the Spirit of Astrology).

How magnificent is your life force / sun / vitality right now?

What are you giving your attention to?

Is it feeding or draining your vitality?

These are all great questions for checking in with yourself, and seeing whether you want to make a change. Even the tiniest change can create a huge impact eventually.
